How To Make A Smoothie

There are tons of fruit smoothie recipes that you can concoct and many of these free smoothie recipes can be found on the internet. You can even make a healthy smoothie. The first question that I have been asked, though, is "How To Make A Smoothie".

Fruit Smoothie

Firstly, it is not difficult to make a smoothie. Smoothies are versatile and can be treated as a breakfast item or a snack or even as a dessert. Some treat smoothie as a meal replacement as it can be nutritious.

In order to have a smooth consistency, it is best to have a blender, failing which you could use a shaker although it is difficult to attain the ideal consistency with a shaker.

Main ingredients:-
• Liquid such as dairy milk, soy milk, fruit juice, ice cream or even tea
• Fruit, either fresh or frozen

If you are using fresh fruits such as oranges, kiwis, bananas, mangoes, etc, do remove the skin before using the fruit.

Place the fruit into the blender. You can experiment with different kinds of fruits to find the favourite smoothie of your choice. If you are using frozen fruit, you can leave out the ice. However if you are using fresh fruit, you might want to put some ice cubes in the blender so you can get a nice cold refreshing fruit smoothie.

Next add in the liquid and start blending. Your refreshing smoothie is ready to drink once you have a smooth consistency.

Frozen fruits and yoghurt will give your smoothie a thicker consistency. Play around with the various ingredients and see what is your favourite smoothie concoction.

Better still, for a healthy smoothie, try adding in some greens such as spirulina, wheatgerm, or wheatgrass. You can also try tahini or royal jelly for a healthy smoothie.

Cranberry Smoothie

Most women know the value of a cranberry - it helps prevent bladder infections. The good news is cranberries can be delicious in a smoothie. Try this cranberry smoothie recipe and let me know what you think.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cranberries
  • 2/3 cup cran-raspberry juice (less, if this is too sweet for you, but I like it sweeter)
  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 8 oz of yogurt, preferably Raspberry
  • 1 1/2 cups of ice

Blend until smooth, give it a taste and decide if you need more ice or juice.

The above recipe is taken from www.smoothieweb.com which showcases some great free healthy smoothie recipes.
